Pasteurized honey is a known source of bacterial spores that produce Clostridium botulinum bacteria. When ingested by infants, these bacteria make a toxin that can cause infant botulism, a rare and serious form of food poisoning. Wound Honey is to be used topically only and is not pasteurized, however, due to the uncertainty of any effects it might have on infants, we do not recommend its use.

Because Wound Honey contains natural emollient and antiseptic properties, Wound Honey can feel very soothing. However, due to the activity levels in the honey, it is possible to feel a slight stinging or burning when first applied. This is considered normal and will subside within minutes. Wound Honey is a honey product, it will be sticky, therefore we recommend covering it with a non-stick bandage.

For the maximum benefits and results, Wound Honey should be used until the wound is completely healed. To minimize scarring after the wound has completely healed, reduce use to once a day and continue to apply for several more weeks.

Wound Honey should be stored at room temperature, away from direct sunlight. As with any honey product, if Wound Honey is cooled, it will harden and possibly crystalize. If this happens, place honey tube in a cup of warm water to bring the honey back to its original viscosity.

Wound Honey and First Aid Honey have the same exact formula. First Aid Honey is in a smaller tube and intended for portable use by those on-the-go.
